The temperature at the bottom of the oceans is about 4º Celsiusbut what is the reason for this temperature?

The answer lies in the densityThe water in the oceans is divided into 3 major layers:

The Epilimnion is the outermost layerwhose temperature depends on the external temperature. This layer will always have the same temperature as it is in continuous movement.

The mesolimnion o thermocline is a layer in which the temperature drops sharply at greater depths.

And the hypolimnion is the deepest layer, in which all the water is continuously mixed, because, at equal salinity, the only force that remains active is density, and taking this factor into account, the “heaviest” water will be deposited in the lowest parts.

As we can see in the graph, with an increase or decrease in temperature, this block of water will rise in search of its position according to density, leaving the denser water below it, which will be at 3.98ºC.

III. AT THE TABLE
Density of water in grams/cubic centimetre as a function of temperature.

On this occasion climate change has no influence The temperature of the seabed is not influenced by climate change, but rather by its surface, which is the layer that interacts with the atmosphere and balances the CO2which do increase the greenhouse effect and atmospheric temperature.
